So I thought I'd try some Tri-X with a new bottle of Rodinal I bought. I haven't used this stuff in a long time, and I forgot how nice it looks. Well, it looked nice on one of the two rolls of Tri-X 400 that went into the tank - the other came out very poorly. The developed negatives even look different (one roll has a purple cast). Same film, same camera, no push or unusual developing, film wasn't expired.

And in today's news, Kodak inches a bit closer to death by ceasing to produce cameras. Now I know what you're thinking, "Kodak hasn't made good cameras since like 1960!". Well, that's true. They weren't great professional quality gear - but they were a good value for the market niche they occupied.

But wait, there's more! You haven't even heard the funny part yet - Kodak will now be focusing on selling inkjet printers. Yep, that's right. Inkjet printers. Now if you're asking yourself what the fuck the Kodak board was smoking when they decided that, well, it's called "Ex-HP CEO". This is what happens when you hire some idiot from HP. This is the same guy that won the prestigious Worst CEO of 2011 award from Motley Fool.

So, why the inket hate? Well, they serve very little purpose. Larger companies tend to use laserjets due to speed and lower cost of operation, and artists tend to outsource printing (photo quality printers are quite pricey). Also, HP is pretty much the undisputed champion of <s>shitty useless printers</s> inkjets, so why assault HP on their own turf? Oh wait, that's right, Kodak's CEO Antonio Perez used to work there. Is this perhaps some executive dick waving at the cost of my favorite film manufacturer?
Kodak has now officially filed for bankruptcy. It appears that they're going to be "restructuring", and when you have a crap ex-HP exec as your CEO, that means "fucking everything up beyond belief" I suppose. Maybe they could start by firing his incompetent ass and getting someone decent in there to replace him.

That actually makes me wonder how the CEO hiring process works. Do bad CEOs make the rounds from company to company, sort of like the management equivalent of an STD on the set of Jersey Shore? Or do most boards just not have a clue how to hire someone? All I ever see in the news these days is "blahblah CEO makes 500m per year while company goes bankrupt", etc etc.
Here's today's picture: some rather cliched powerline shots.
